Child and Adolescent’s Center is a civil non-profit organization (NGO), which was founded in Chios, Greece in March 1996

The aim of Child and Adolescent’s Center is to develop and provide mental health services in the spirit of social and communal psychiatry: prevention, prompt diagnosis, therapy, scientific research, planning and implementing programmes of public health, education and sensitization of the community. At the same time, Child and Adolescent’s Center purpose is to plan and implement Educational Programs for professionals and experts on Mental Health and Special Education.

The scientific groups of the Center include the following professionals:

Child psychologist, psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker, speech therapist, occupational therapist, music therapist, special educator, instructor of adjusted physical education, pre-school educator, career advisor, nurse.

The Center is also supported by an administrative service, an accountant, a legal advisor and a general duty executive.

Our mission

Το work every day to create a better future for people with psychiatric / psychological / developmental disorders and their families, offering quality Mental Health and Special Education services.

To implement information and awareness actions of the public, with the ultimate goal of eliminating discrimination, so that our beneficiaries enjoy their lives more and more, coexisting in society without exclusions.

To train mental health professionals to improve the services they offer to beneficiaries and careers, helping to improve the quality of life for both.

 

In 2022 the Center completed 26 years of operation. By dedicating a great deal of insistence and patience and thanks to the power of volunteering, it continues battling, trying to cover the needs of qualitative mental health provision and special education services.

Since 2008, Child and Adolescent’s Center has been active in Athens, providing specialized services for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. (ASD)

Additionally, Child and Adolescent’s Center trains the Community and tries to sensitize the public in order to eliminate the stigma of mental illness through a number of various actions.

Specifically, it holds meetings and conferences for the educators, parents and mental health professionals. Moreover, it organizes visits to schools, targeting to interactive communication and teachers’ information as well. Finally, it informs the community through a series of articles and interviews, presented on local and national media.

From 1996 until 2021, Child and Adolescent’s Center, through its settings in Chios and Athens, has supported 9,364 children, adolescents and their families. Also, since 2015, 1,169 mental health professionals, health specialists, as well as educators and parents of people with ASD were trained by Scientific Documentation and Education Department. Moreover, the Department has designed and implemented 7 research projects.

At the same time the employees of the Center reached the number of 132 until the end of 2021 (mental health professionals and administrative executives).
