Barafunda, Associação Juvenil de Cultura e Solidariedade Social
Barafunda AJCSS is a NGO with over 35 years of experience in social inclusion, community intervention, education and training.
It has developed a wide range of activities with children, young people and adults, with the aim of promoting the territory’s cultural, social and economic development, through collective involvement, with a main focus on equal opportunities, sustainability (health and environment) and social inclusion.
The main current activities are:
Centro Qualifica – specialized centre in adult education, within a national educational policy, that aims to improve the qualification and employability levels of the adult population, through school and professional certification, professional training and vocational guidance. Since 2017, we have been following more than 3000 adult people and have more than 50 active partnerships with companies and institutions.
Training and Work Academy (ATF) – operating since 1997, it is the certified training department, coordinating training courses for adult population in several areas of intervention.
Barafunda develops projects in formal, non-formal and informal training and education in different formats and areas of intervention.
Youth Center and ATL Program – operating since 1997, it represents a space for educational intervention and sociocultural and constructive occupation of leisure time, fostering intergenerational encounter and sharing of traditional and modern knowledge.
With the aim of strengthening democratic literacy and active citizenship, we have developed various intergenerational meeting and knowledge sharing activities and several projects, always regarding local/regional development and people’s empowerment.
International Cooperation - from 2010 onwards, we have been developing actions at European level.
