Elena started paying attention to the structure of the webinars she attended and listening to other peoples’ experience. At times, there was indeed no break, no consideration of a pause and when someone would ask for a break, at most, the organiser would reassure everyone that the webinar would not take long. In all the cases of webinars with breaks - she noticed - she felt less tired and more engaged, not only during the webinar but also at the end, and beyond, looking forward to the next one. For the first time, she could see the added value of taking a break!

Magistritöö sisuks on autoetnograafiline uurimus täiskasvanud õppija õppimisest. Autoetnograafia puhul on tegemist kvalitatiivse uurimismeetodiga, kus uurija uurib iseennast, seades uurimuse keskpunkti omaenese kogemused ja lood (Ellis & Bohner, 2000). Minu autoetnograafia aluseks on kahe aasta vältel kirja pandud refleksioonid ja mõtisklused läbitud õppeprotsesside kohta: magistriõpingud, suhtlemistreenerite väljaõpe ja töötukassa koolitus.

Singapore is sometimes described as a ‘little red dot’ with a total land area of less than 720km2 and a population of 5.6 million (Department of Statistics Singapore, 2017). As a city-state with limited natural resources, human resource is considered to be one of Singapore’s largest and most valued assets. Therefore, Singapore places significant emphasis on education and continuing education to support skills development and develop a resilient and future ready workforce that is both relevant and competitive in a rapidly changing global economy.

This article investigates Brown’s assertion that students today exhibit an unwillingness/inability to engage in critical thinking (CT). He describes this as a ‘critical thinking deficit’. The question of whether CT can be taught or whether we can only create the conditions in which CT can thrive and develop is explored through analysis of data from a pedagogical intervention of a Poetry Group; it aims to develop CT by employing Community of Inquiry as a methodology.

Adult education has the power to change lives, and in Australia has always been made up of educators and providers capable of adapting to the changing environments around them. Today, however, there is declining support for adult education at a time when there is growing public disenchantment with the political system, an uncivil public discourse, technological disruption and well-grounded fear for our environmental sustainability. This makes the challenge for adult education to meet the varying needs of adult learners more difficult.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an essential part of sustainability. The CSR concept can be extended to social responsibility of organisations and personal responsibility of the citizens (Personal Social Responsibility). Extending the CSR concept requires increasing the knowledge of it. The Social Responsibility Index (SR Index), inspired by the CSR indices used to measure the performance, can be a convenient tool to educate adult population in the Lifelong Learning (LLL) process. It is essential that the index is understandable for all users.

This paper aims to promote a re-think about the decline in part-time higher education in England. Most part-time learners are mature students, and the oft-reported drop in part-time student numbers can be viewed as a proxy for the retreat of older learners from higher education. A succession of reports has been published identifying the dramatic loss of part-time numbers. Despite the persuasiveness of the quantitative data cited, policymakers have yet to reverse the decline.

The purpose of this study was to develop a scale measuring attitudes toward women’s working. In line with this main purpose, two studies were conducted to develop the tool and investigate its psychometric properties in two different samples. The study 1 started with generating item pool, conducting exploratory factor analysis to identify underlying factor structure of the latent variable. In study 1 after testing the structure of measure, a brief 9-item, tri-factor scale for the assessment of attitudes toward women’s working was emerged. The study 2 utilized a different sample.

Abstract: Introduction: Research into gender diversity and equality of gender in humanities has been mounting since 1960s, when post-modernism and post-structuralism emerged as a reaction to metanarratives of modernization. Methods and approaches in ELT also arose in the same years. However, queer and LGBT identities were intentionally ignored in ELT discipline and departments, although English as a lingua franca was already hailed in the inner circle. This study aimed to unearth the views of young adult learners of English regarding LGBT. Two data collection instruments were administered.
