For more than 30 years SPES has been working on projects for sustainable development and sustainable future scenarios. Its activities are aimed at the benefit of both today’s society and future generations. In Austria the association is well-known as pioneer of local, regional and supraregional development. SPES Future Academy has a lot of experience and expertise in processes of interconnectedness and participation and has organized and conducted many successful conferences and lectures. Thus SPES is offering the implementation of Agenda 21 processes on local community level. More than 150 local development processes and 100 processes concerning “Family-Friendly Communities” have been conducted and assisted by SPES focusing on citizen’s participation and ownership with formats such as Citizens' Council, Women's Council and Youth Council.
In the SPES principles the involvement of the population, participation, turning those affected into stakeholders as well as sustainable and ecological development are at the forefront.
Furthermore, SPES has developed and carried out many regional, national and European projects concerning local development and quality of life in rural areas and has profound knowledge in training people for sustainability and empowerment. Since 2000 SPES has participated as subcontractor, partner and lead partner in many different EU projects.
13 staff members from a wide range of disciplines (economics, political sciences, agricultural sciences, educational sciences, communication sciences, sociology, environmental education, theology) form a strong team. We are strong in implementation, but also have a lot of experience in project management and in the implementation of European projects.
