EPALE

Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe

How is EPALE different from eTwinning?

eTwinning is a virtual meeting place for collaborative work between schools, teachers and pupils, and organises events for teachers' professional development. EPALE aims to build an online community for the adult learning sector and adult learning professionals.

Through the pan-European calendar, EPALE will give information about courses and events of interest to adult learning professionals. The EPALE platform will also have a wide range of useful educational resources, news, events and networking tools, with high-quality content identified by experts in the field and translated into key languages.

At this stage, it is not foreseen that the calendar will include events for primary and secondary school teachers, as in eTwinning, as EPALE focuses upon adult learners as the end users. It is also important to note that, unlike eTwinning, EPALE will not offer the possibility to twin classes, as classes do not exist for adults in the same way as they do in primary and secondary education.
