Navigating the Future: How the "CONNECT 60+" Project is Transforming Digital Education for Seniors
In today's world, digital skills are essential for staying connected and independent. However, many seniors still face significant barriers. To address this, the Erasmus+ project "CONNECT 60+: Bridging Cultures and Generations Through Digital Discovery" (No. 2025-1-RO01-KA210-ADU-000359240) was launched.
Why Digital Education MattersDigital literacy is more than just using a smartphone; it’s about social inclusion and mental well-being. Studies show that lifelong learning reduces cognitive decline and combats the isolation often felt by the elderly.
Key Goals of CONNECT 60+Led by the Sellification4Education Association (Romania) alongside partners from Bulgaria(Fondatsiya “Tsennosti, dobrodeteli, integritet” / VVIF (“Values, Virtues, Integrity” Foundation) and Serbia, (CENTAR ZA OBRAZOVANJE I RAZVOJ MAGENTA / CENTER FOR EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT MAGENTA) this 24-month initiative focuses on:
Training Educators: Equipping 12 adult educators with modern, senior-friendly teaching methods.
Multilingual Resources: Creating a "Digital Guide for Seniors" and a "Trainer’s Manual" in four languages.
Hands-on Workshops: Training 120+ seniors in basic digital skills, online safety, and accessing essential services.
Intergenerational Connection: Engaging young volunteers to support seniors, fostering solidarity between generations.
A Green and Inclusive ApproachThe project is committed to sustainability—prioritizing digital materials over paper—and inclusion, reaching out to seniors in rural areas, those in financial difficulty, and refugees.
ConclusionCONNECT 60+ proves that it’s never too late to learn. By turning digital barriers into bridges, we ensure that our seniors remain active, informed, and connected members of society.
