The joys of being an adult educator is that adults mainly choose to attend/ be in a learning environment. The knowledge they acquire assists them in getting a better job, being upskilled and in many instances having access to more education. Basic skills teaching in particular is very powerful in terms of opening up new opportunities and ways for adults to run their lives. I have been at the end of adult learning for many years and this has improved my understanding of the world as well as upskilled me. I have also taught adults and have experienced the sheer joy of the aha moment when the learning makes sense in their world. Amazing feeling.
