Climate Smart Agriculture: Embracing Sustainable Farming Practices for a Greener Future

Sustainable farming is a key component of climate smart agriculture, as it involves producing food while minimizing the impact on the environment. This includes practices such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, using natural resources efficiently, and protecting soil health. By adopting sustainable farming practices, farmers can improve their resilience to climate change and reduce their carbon footprint, while also producing healthy and nutritious food for the population.

FarmBox project has interviewed Nerijus and Agne Sukacka from Dzūkija (Lithuania). They will share their best practices to inspire to farm and to look at farming in a sustainable way, as Nerijus puts it, understanding that we have come to nature to protect.

Sustainable farming is essential for ensuring food security and protecting our natural resources. Educators play a critical role in training the next generation of farmers to adopt sustainable farming practices, such as reducing the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, conserving water and soil, and increasing biodiversity on farms. By integrating sustainable farming principles into agricultural education and training, we can ensure that future farmers have the skills and knowledge needed to promote sustainable development and mitigate the impacts of climate change. This will help to build a more resilient and sustainable food system that supports the well-being of people and the planet.

What do you think about sustainable farming? How do you approach to this topic? Do you believe that interviews may be impactful on your target goup? Why?

This interview is part of the MOOC that will be soon released in the framework of "The farmer's toolbox for climate change mitigation – FarmBox" project (2020-1-IT01-KA226-VET-008891), co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
