A Guide for Disabled Driver Learners

A project that contributes to lifelong learning and social inclusion of drivers with disabilities.

This project objectives are to share good practices in and by examining disability driver training on site in 3 different countries: Turkiye, Malta and Italy. The guidebook will be created to help the trainers by improving their competencies. The project also aims to increase the quality of the training in the different countries by directly involving the instructors in the project.

Researchers from the different countries will be engaged and a literature review will be prepared. Each country will then create a case study. In creating the study, the researchers will work with the learners, the trainers and the schools. An analysis will be carried out at different stages of the project.

The partners are:

Eskisehir Driving Courses Association which was establised in 2003 and is co-ordinating the project. The aim of the association is to meet social, legal, economic, recreational, cultural and professional needs. It also carries out scientific research. The association also ensures and develops the education and training at every stage of life for those wanting to take up driving.  The association is a member of the Central Anatolian Driving Courses and Trainers Federation which in turn is headed by the Turkish Driver Trainers Confederation.

The Italian partner is the Comitato per i Gemellaggi del Comune d Ceregnano which was founded in 2007. The Comitato is a cultural association that works with young people, adults and senior citizens. It promotes European Union values and takes concrete actions to show good practices across Europe thus defending the European identity. It encourages towns to twin together across Europe and supports intercultural dialogue.

The centre caters for students with different backgrounds including low skilled, migrants, persons who want to upskill and others. It was set up in 2000 and trains around 800 students per year.

About the plantation of 4th March 2023

On Saturday 4th March 2023 inside “Parco della Felicità-Happiness Park” , Ceregnano - Italy, eighth grade girls and boys of Carlo Goldoni’s School witnessed the plantation of some fruit tree small plants.

The initiative is part of dissemination activities of the Erasmus+ European project “A Guide for  disabled driver learners”. Towntwinning Committee of Ceregnano (Cer.co.gem) is participating in this project with Turkish partners of Eskisehir (General Coordinators) and with those of Floriana, a suburb of Valletta, the capital of Malta.

The meeting was attended by the municipal administration with the mayor Egisto Marchetti, the deputy mayor Elisa Pizzardo and the councilor for culture Alberto Boccato. The WWF of Rovigo was also present with the Provincial President Eddy Boschetti.

In addition to having expressed an educational and environmental value, the day also had a symbolic meaning since the seedlings planted (hazel, plum, cherry, myrobalan) replaced other dead plants placed in memory of the 20 victims of the Ceregnano and Villadose massacre occurred on the last day of World War II; on April 25, 1945. “A terrible event in our recent history that we must not forget” remarked the mayor.

The vice president of Cercogem Ivo Zambello had illustrated the activities of the committee and the opportunities it offers to young people at the beginning. Mirko Bolzoni, president of Cercogem, recalled the values of peace and the environmental emergency.

The event culminated with the animated reading devoted to “The Tree” by the actor Achille Ferrari and with the planting of the seedlings by Eddie Boschetti, the WWF volunteers and some students. At the end, some hedgehog specimens collected and cared for in a nearby wildlife recovery center were released into the green area.

The welcoming ceremony for the newborns of 2022 in the Municipality of Ceregnano was held on Sunday 12 February at 10:30 at the 'Barin' Auditorium in Ceregnano. The mayor Egisto Marchetti, the deputy mayor Mrs Elisa Pizzardo, the councilor for culture Alberto Boccato and the managing director for public relations Mrs Giulia Tamiello took part in the occasion. The newborns and their families present at the ceremony were given a special kit by the Municipality and a small plant by Cercogem – Towntwinning Committee of Ceregnano.

Before the delivery of the gifts, the Vice President of Cercogem Ivo Zambello spoke with a short speech:

“Our association is a partner in a European project on the theme of “The disabled driving” project which aims to compare the situations of Turkey, Malta and Italy.

Among the forms of publicity for the project, we have also chosen the gift and/or planting of seedlings. When Mayor Marchetti told me the idea of - Ceregnano in Love - we were proud to contribute to this ceremony by giving each newborn in 2022 a seedling to remind families and all of us that Valentine's Day feeds on love for all living beings, a love that starts from respect and reaches the point of giving.

'I care about your life' could be a commitment in favor of children, seedlings and disabled drivers, all weak subjects who deserve our care'.
