Wales Arts International launch Connect: European networks fund
Wales Arts International is providing new funding to support individual creative practitioners and arts organisations based in the country to engage with European networks. The main aim of Connect is to ensure that the art sector in Wales maintains strong links with strategic networks based in Europe, which can provide a hub for sharing ideas, collaborating on projects and exchanging valuable information. Wales Arts International hopes to strike a balance between funding awarded to individuals and organisations. Both formal and informal networks are encouraged, and successful applicants are allowed to create a network of personal collaborators across Europe and the world.
Connect is part of a wider Welsh Government initiative to strengthen bonds with our European neighbours and redefine our relationship with them in a changing political landscape. Funding will prioritise attendance at an event organised by a well-established European network, but consideration will also be given to supporting applications for attendance at an event or meeting that is organised by an informal European network. For the latter, it will be necessary to show that the network holds real value and can demonstrate long-term goals.
Awards are unlikely to exceed five for the same event and events considered should take place before or up to 31 October 2020. Funding applications can be submitted till 15 March 2020, but this date may be extended if funding is still available.
