Towards a European model for the Epale Ambassadors?

11/11/2016

Increasing the efficiency of the national adult education support through the collaboration of experts at local level, and with a European model promoted by Epale: Epale Ambassadors. This has been the objective of the first "Epale Ambassadors meeting" organized by the Epale NSS Italy in Rome on 27 and 28 October, to start a process and an open discussion among countries that will develop over time.

Over 70 ambassadors and members of National Support Services in 18 European countries have keenly discussed in Rome, sharing the first results of the work done with Ambassadors and experts in these first 18 months of Epale activity, and identifying the supporting national network capable to convey in Epale experiences, content and the best resources for adult education in their own country.

At the opening of Epale national authority, Donatella Amatucci, from the Italian Ministry of Education, she said that if more young people are often at the center of policies and national attention, adults represent an issue of equal importance, which must maintain its specificity and attention to the needs in training courses and professional outplacement, as well as in educational policies for basic literacy skills increasingly affecting the weak groups of the population nowadays.

Vilhelm Vukovich, the Epale coordinator at the European Commission (DG Education and Culture) and Cecilia Liljegren, the Executive Agency - EACEA - in charge of the project funding, participated in the two days of meeting by collecting ideas and suggestions, in particular acknowledging the need for greater visibility for those who, like the Ambassadors, is actually giving Epale the first durable quality results.
