Successfully implemented project - Local In

It seems that only recently we started to explore the idea of how to enter the life of older people and fill it with unusual activities, and today we can already celebrate a new social project - Local In.

The slogan of the project: "Retired but not tired" perfectly reflects the target group of the project: older people who are no longer working, but still want to work and contribute to social and cultural activities in their region. The aim of this project is to give older people the opportunity to engage in a pleasant job - to become guides of their region with the younger generation, thus promoting the region and attracting more tourists. After all, who knows better all the secret places and the most beautiful tracks in their hometown, if not the locals who have lived there for many years.

The idea of the project was born after looking around and noticing how many active people who have completed their professional career sink into loneliness and shut themselves up at home.

Formerly active, active and energetic seniors, who have lost their jobs, begin to lose themselves as well.

The main goal of the project is to re-engage older people and promote not only their active involvement to the life of the country, but also to communicate with the younger generation.

The Local In project is financed by the Erasmus+ program and is currently being actively implemented in Lithuania, Portugal (Universidade senior de Oeiras) and Malta (Skill Zone Malta co. Limited).

Since the beginning of the project implementation, extremely beneficial results have been observed for all three partner countries. During this period, as many as 15 trainings were held in different countries, as many as 325 older people were involved and the Local In platform was created, where the project's activities will continue.

On the platform, it will be possible to discover routes in the Tauragė region in Lithuania, the Lisbon region in Portugal and the Central region of Malta. The itineraries were compiled by the best experts of the regions - elders participating in the project, who have known these regions for a long time and can share undiscovered places. Such routes are not only a great tool to enable seniors to conduct guided tours together with young people, but also promote international partnership and active tourism in the aforementioned regions.

The Local In platform will be supplemented with local businesses created by local people. There you can find the tastiest local honey, the most beautiful dresses, the brightest paintings and even the most beautiful handicrafts.

This will encourage the support of local businesses and the sharing of good practices among locals.

The project is still gaining momentum, but we hope that it will be able to expand and grow rapidly. This is beneficial not only for the project participants, but also for the regions that will join the project later. Each activity will not only give meaning to the lives of seniors, bring the representatives of the younger and older generations together, but also promote tourism, develop social and cultural activities, and provide an opportunity to share good experiences between different regions.

Those who want to join the project: become guides or introduce the wider world to their small business, we invite you to visit www.localin.lt or contact us by mail: info@localin.lt

The project is financed by the Erasmus+ program.
