SPEED Project: Enhancing Employability through Digital Skills

The SPEED (Structured Program for Enhancing Employability by Developing Future Ready Skills) project nr.: 2023-2-DK01-KA210-VET-000174643, funded by Erasmus+ KA-2 VET program, aims to bridge the gap between vocational education and the evolving job market. By creating a microAPPs-based digital training platform, the project aspires to develop essential transversal skills in VET students. This initiative intends to empower educators with innovative digital tools and enhance the employability of VET trainees by aligning their skills with market demands.
Problem Areas and Impact
SPEED addressed the critical issue of skills mismatch in the job market. The project developed a digital training platform to enhance cognitive and transversal skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence. This platform, through its gamified and interactive content, aimed to equip VET students with the necessary skills to thrive in a competitive job market. The impact was significant, providing both educators and students with the resources to improve digital readiness and employability.
Key Results Produced by the Project
- Development of GEMS-mATP: The Global Employability Master Skills microAPPs Training Platform (GEMS-mATP) was created, offering a collection of 48 microAPPs available in English, Croatian, Danish, and German. This platform incorporated gamification to make learning engaging and effective. The apps focused on the following Global Employability Master Skills: innovation management, design thinking, emotional intelligence, global cultural effectiveness, concentration and focus, and negotiation and conflict resolution. These skills are crucial for the holistic development of VET students, preparing them for diverse job roles and enhancing their adaptability.
- Empowerment of Educators: VET educators were equipped with the digital tools necessary to deliver the training effectively. The project included comprehensive training for educators to use the GEMS-mATP, enhancing their digital competence and didactical readiness. This training ensured that educators could seamlessly integrate the microAPPs into their teaching methods, providing students with a modern and interactive learning experience.
- Impact on VET Students and Trainers: The primary beneficiaries, low-skilled young VET students and adult trainees, gained significant advantages from the project. By developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, students became more competent and job-ready. Additionally, the project facilitated the digital transformation of VET institutions, improving the overall quality of vocational training and ensuring that the training provided was in line with the dynamic needs of the job market.
