Promoting inclusion through digitalisation
This project was prompted by the experience of online teaching due to pandemic lockdown. It made us aware of our shortcomings regarding ICT tools and the need to update our knowledge. Besides this, our school should provide our students with the basic tools and skills to follow up a hybrid class. We noticed the necessity to improve our expertise regarding ICT tools. We have realized that digital education is most effective and sustainable when supported by the right pedagogical devices, as well as embraced by teachers and embedded in clear teaching goals and sound pedagogies. So we consider that the Erasmus project could contribute to span our digital methodology.
.For a 21st Century digital classroom to operate at a reasonable level, all four elements (digital technology equipment, network requirements, professional development of teachers and access to content) must be addressed. In order to cope with it, we will focus on the professional development for teachers. The project will involve a training course, two job shadowing visits and a visit to another education provider with a group of students. The training course will show us how to use software, platforms and apps to communicate, to manage groups and to foster collaboration .The job shadowing will allow us to observe how other teachers use ICT resources and how they organise the class. Finally, a group of students will be able to see how digital resources are used in a foreign educational institution, being able to experience academic life there first hand.
The first task we have done is a situation analysis, to know the current state of our school concerning ICT, the use and knowledge the students and teachers have regarding digital resources. To do it Las Rosas Erasmus team has designed two differents surveys. The staff survey includes knowledge and different resources teachers use in the virtual class. And the students survey at two different levels, taking into account the age, and the dissadvantages some students may encounter in formal education. In addition to this, we have set up an Erasmus+ section on our school website and we have made publicity of the project in the hall to involve the school community .We have defined the criteria to choose the members of staff and the students who will take part in the mobilities.
