Pathways for Progression: Easing the Transition into Further & Higher Education

Prisoners’ Education Trust (PET) Welsh project is holding an event in collaboration with Cardiff Metropolitan Widening Access and Goldsmith University Open Book project on Friday 9 June at Cyncoed.

Bringing together practitioners and experts from Further Education and the Prison Estate, participants will have the opportunity to discuss how best to support learners successfully progress their education, both whilst they are in prison and once released.

The event will include prison staff, prison educators, university and college tutors, support staff, researchers, learners and more. The day will include examining how learners can progress to university and college, the barriers to progression, the support available, and the difference (and similarities) between prison and university/college based learning.

Participants will have the opportunity to hear from experts in the field as well as joining round table discussions focussing on how best to support learners successfully progress their education, both whilst they are in prison and once released.
