Our work on Geographical Indication and Registration Continues

Belt weaving, which holds an important place among our traditional handicrafts, is among the endangered crafts today. This art form, which is a significant part of our cultural heritage, has been practiced throughout history in different regions using unique techniques, reflecting the identities of societies. However, with the widespread use of modern production techniques and the decreasing number of handcrafted arts, the number of belt weaving masters is gradually decreasing. In this context, we are continuing our academic research to identify, preserve, and pass on traditional weaving techniques to future generations. Through the studies conducted, we aim to contribute to the revitalization of this cultural heritage by highlighting the technical and aesthetic characteristics of belt weaving. In this context, we held meetings with Associate Prof. Dr. Mehmet Erdem İNCE from the Department of Textile Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ebru ÇORUH, Prof. Dr. Nazan AVCIOĞLU KALEBEK, Dr. M. Bünyamin ÜZÜMCÜ, and Dr. Deniz VURUŞKAN from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Gaziantep University.
