Museum of Active Learning
Following a training course on how to write projects on Adult Education organized by the Romanian National Agency, we started a project and submitted it February, 2019. After 4 long months of waiting we excitedly found out that our project ”Museum of Active Learning”, coordinated by the Gorj County Museum from Targu Jiu, Romania, was approved. The joy was so great as it was our first chance to connect with European museums and partners. As a result we started to prepare for the mobilities that we planned in the project by selecting the participants and training them about the upcoming professional exchanges.
Our first mobility was the participation to the 2019 NEMO (Network of European Museum Organizations) Conference which took place in Tartu, Estonia. Thanks to the Erasmus+ programme, 2 participants from the ”Alexandru Stefulescu” Gorj County Museum were able to attend workshops and training sessions about the museums of the future - Sharing Recipes for a Better Future was the theme of the conference in Tartu. Moreover, we became a member of the LEM Group (The Learning Museum) and this is an important achievement for us, as it is a group that focuses on museum education, creativity in museums and sustainability. It motivates and inspires us to reach for more and to develop our cultural activities for a larger and larger audience.
Due to the pandemic, our ”Museum of Active Learning” took a pause in 2020 but we came strong in 2021 when we organized the 2nd mobility of the project. 4 museum curators were selected to participate to a training course organized by EduCulture in Limassol, Cyprus. The training was called ”Museum Education - Cognitive and Behavioural Practices in the Field of Museum Related Adult Education”. The course was combined with museum visits and field trips to enhance the learning outcomes of the participants.
