Mid-life Skills Review – National Dissemination Event

Research predicts that by the mid-2030s, half of all adults in the UK will be over 50. At present, it is not unusual for workers to change careers several times over the course of their lives and this trend is only set to continue. As a result, upskilling for older workers is essential to ensuring their continued professional success.
The Mid-life Skills Review Project is an Erasmus+ project that was created to develop a review that will enable older workers to prepare for the challenges they will face in an increasingly competitive, challenging and digitally-minded society. A quality practice model to enable the delivery of a mid-life skills review was developed, focusing on reviewing skills aimed at workers in the labour market who have low levels of basic skills, including literacy, numeracy and digital competency.
Unionlearn’s Mid-life Skills Review – National Dissemination Event will take place in London at Friend’s House on Thursday 7 November 2019. The event will provide the opportunity to discuss the results of the project, as well as showcase new resources and share lessons learnt. The new online Value My Skills tool, which supports workers and helps them to plan their skills development, will also be highlighted. Best practice for carrying out effective mid-life skills reviews will be shared.
