Literacy week in The Netherlands

Literacy Week is an annual event in which the Netherlands as a whole participates. It takes place in the week around the UNESCO International Literacy Day on 8th of September. The Literacy Week focuses on three types of main activities, namely agenda-setting, prevention and reduction of literacy difficulties. The general objective of the week is to inform as much people as possible about the importance of literacy as well as encouraging as many organizations as possible to start with actions to tackle literacy difficulties. The Dutch Reading and Writing Foudation (Stichting Lezen & Schrijven) serves as a nation-wide catalyst, provider of inspiration and as a supporter of organizations hosting activities and events.
