Knitted Knockers Donation Event (Malta)
Donation Event held on 6th August 2019 at Sir Anthony Mamo, Oncology Centre, MDH
During this event, 100 Knitted Knockers (Soft and comfortable knitted fillers placed in the bra to provide shape for women who have undergone surgery) were presented to the Aurora Support Unit at Mater Dei Hospital. Participants of the Creative Knitting open classes, held at the Lifelong Learning Centre Msida, and at the Active Ageing Centre made these knitted knockers, which will be distributed to cancer patients. Creative expression open classes offer opportunities to adult learners to work on projects and collaborate with peers.
The Aurora Support Unit, led by nurses with a special interest and expertise in oncology, provides a support service to patients. Nurses, and other professionals at the Oncology Centre, use their experience in this area to inform and support oncology patients.
