INVITATION to the 5th DANTE NETWORKING EVENT- Learning Futures: Skills, Policies, and the Human Role in Europe’s Adult Education
Dear colleagues, partners and friends of the DANTE Network,
We are delighted to invite you to the 5th DANTE Conference & Networking Event, taking place from 28 - 29 January 2026 in Rijeka - Opatija, Croatia, with a pre-conference evening gathering on 27 January.
This year’s theme, “Learning Futures: Skills, Policies, and the Human Role in Europe’s Adult Education,” invites us to reimagine how educators, policies, and digital transformation will shape the future of adult learning in Europe.
Across two days, we will explore the balance between skills for life and skills for the labour market, the political and financial frameworks that drive transformation, and the shifting role of educators in an age increasingly shaped by algorithms, artificial intelligence and European policy developments.
Key discussions will address:
- The Pact for Skills and the emerging Union of Skills
- Trends in Erasmus+ and implications of the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF)
- The impact of the Draghi Report on Europe’s human capital vision
- Insights from the new EAEA Country Reports, including participation and funding data from adult learning providers
- The growing tension between life-wide learning and labour-market-oriented skills
- The political forces influencing the future of adult education in the Union

We will also engage in hands-on simulations, policy labs, future-focused workshops, and collective reflection spaces, concluding with a shared exploration of resilience, collaboration and innovation in Europe’s adult learning landscape.
The event offers multiple opportunities for informal exchange, including a guided city tour and a cultural dinner “Taste, Talk and Dance”, showcasing local Croatian flavours and conversations.

Please complete the registration form by December 15, 2025. The participation fee is 280 euros, which covers only part of the total event costs. Upon registration, please proceed with the payment and we will send an invoice for the participation fee. Please note that accommodation and travel expenses are not covered by the participation fee.
