International Women's Day 2015: Celebrating WEA's Inspiring Women
The WEA is the UK’s largest voluntary provider of adult education and has been positively changing the lives of people for over a century. Women and men from all walks of life attend WEA courses, however women make up the majority of the students who take part in adult education in the UK overall. To mark International Women’s Day (IWD) 2015, the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) in the West Midlands is celebrating the lives of our women students and their achievements on some of our courses.
On Friday 6th of March 2015 we are sharing and celebrating how adult learning has transformed women’s lives and also the lives of their communities.
Our speakers will be delivering inspirational talks around: How adult education can change women's lives, with inspiring examples of learning as a vehicle to wider change in society and what we all need to do to further empower women. There will also be performances and a showcase of our students' work including: Singing performances; Fashion show of students' creations; Dance performances. There will also be partner stalls, displays and refreshments available on the day as well as plenty of opportunity to meet and network.
