Fourth International Congress on Women in the Global World: Struggle for Equality will be held in Istanbul, organized by Istanbul Topkapi University Women's Studies Center (TOPKAPI WOMEN) from May 23-25, 2024. Papers will be presented in Turkish or English. There will also be online sessions. This hybrid congress is supported by the International Business School (IBS), Universidade de Caxias do Sul (UCS), Manipal University Jaipur (Manipal), Universidade de Itauna (UI), Escuela Interdisciplinar de Derechos Fundamentales (EUDF), Sustainable Equity and Social Research Association (SEDER), and Transnational Press London (TPLondon).

Women's issues have varied throughout history depending on the structures, cultural norms, and economic dynamics of societies. Inequalities related to women's education, health, employment, political representation, and social roles continue to be a global issue. These inequalities prevent women from fully realizing their potential and contributing to the overall well-being of societies. Issues such as violence against women, sexual exploitation, discrimination, and gender inequality are directly linked to women's issues, requiring global awareness and action for their resolution. Respecting women's rights, achieving gender equality, and enabling women to take a more active role in decision-making mechanisms are of critical importance for a sustainable world. The Fourth International Women in a Global World Congress provides a platform for researchers working in different disciplines to discuss their studies on women and gender inequality.

Gender discrimination faced by women in all areas is particularly intensified during times of crisis. The various forms of crises we face in Turkey and around the world create a need to focus on how women are affected by these crises. Women are at a higher risk compared to other members of society in the face of disasters, wars, climate crises, and economic crises. In such disasters, women bear heavier burdens due to economic constraints, the weight of social roles, and the effects of gender inequality. For example, women may become targets of sexual violence and mistreatment during times of war, or they may face additional challenges such as increased domestic responsibilities or lack of security in shelters during disasters. Moreover, in societies where gender inequality is deeply rooted, access to resources that women need to secure becomes even more difficult during crisis situations. In this context, conducting research at national and international levels becomes important to address the greater impact of these challenges on women, achieve gender equality, and protect women's rights.
