Information about the meeting on "Lifelong Learning Day" within the Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe (EPALE)

As part of the development and promotion of adult education opportunities in Albania, a meeting on the "Lifelong Learning Day" was held by the National Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Qualifications, in the role of the National Support Center to introduce and promote the Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe (EPALE), on November 8, 2019 at the "Xheko Imperial" hotel in Tirana.

This activity aimed to:

  • Bring together representatives of different institutions, which in one way or another deal not only with adult education and training but also with employment, social inclusion;
  • Bring Albanian adults closer to the platform and motivate them to use it as a tool for further development and training in order to supplement and diversify their skills leading to greater employment.

The meeting was attended by over 60 participants, representing:

  •  The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth
  • The Ministry of Finance and Economy
  • The National Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Qualifications
  • The Agency for Quality Assurance in Pre-University Education
  • The University of Sports of Tirana
  • The Faculty of Social Sciences
  • The National Employment Service
  • The Hospitality & Tourism School, Tirana
  • The Technical Economic School, Tirana
  • The 'Gjergji Canco' School, Tirana
  • The 'Hermann Gmeiner' School, Tirana
  • The 'Karl Gega' School, Tirana
  • The Multifunctional Center, Kamza
  • The 'Harry Fultz' School, Tirana
  • The Regional Directorate of Public Vocational Training, No. 1
  • The Regional Directorate of Public Vocational Training, No. 4

The event consisted of 3 sessions:

  • The first session was greeted by the representative of the Ministry of Finance and Economy (Mr. Stavri Lako) and the Director of the National Agency for VET and Qualifications (Ms. Ejvis Gishti). Also the findings of the study on "Assessing the adult learning current situation and best practices in Albania" were presented by Ms. Matilda Naço.
  • In the second session some preliminary input was given by Ms. Albina Buci and thematic discussions were organized. The participants were divided into 5 discussion tables to discuss the following topics:
    • Work-based learning
    • Career guidance
    • Quality offer in VET
    • Digital learning
    • Adult voice

The discussion at each table was facilitated by one moderator. The aim of these discussions was for each participant's voice to be heard by all. This session lasted one and a half hours.

  • During the third session the results coming out of the discussions were reported for each of the topics covering 4 dimensions:
    • The current situation
    • Competent institutions / mechanisms
    • Positive practice / examples
    • Future challenges

Afterwards, all discussions were summarized and the meeting was wrapped up by Ms. Ejvis Gishti.

The meeting was followed by visits to the Adult Qualification Providers Fair where participants were introduced to the offer of the institutions participating in the fair:

  • The National Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Qualifications
  • The University of Sports of Tirana
  • The Hospitality & Tourism School, Tirana
  • The 'Gjergji Canco' School, Tirana
  • The Multifunctional Center, Kamza
  • The Regional Directorate of Public Vocational Training, No. 1
  • The Regional Directorate of Public Vocational Training, No. 4
  • The 'New Generation' Center.
