05/11/2019
Language: EN

MSS Lifelong Learning Center in Reykjanes Peninsula is in collaboration with the Hæfnisetur - Tourism Skills Center in Iceland, which is a project funded by the Ministry of Employment and Innovation to strengthen the tourism infrastructure. The partnership aims to encourage education in the tourism industry to improve the quality and stability of the industry.

Representatives of Hæfnisetur-Tourism Skills Center and MSS go to companies in tourism and invite them to conclude a tripartite agreement to identify educational needs within a company and assist to make educational plans. The company also undertakes to use scale that can provide evidence of project success.

A number of contracts has started and are in progress and now we are working on to invite more companies to join the project. The project is going well and the companies are usually interested in taking advantage of this opportunity. This applies to both large and small tourism companies.

Many tourism companies have few employees and some are even self-employed companies, in which case clusters are formed that encourage collaboration between parties in terms of training, education and courses.

After the tripartite agreement is reached, the MSS will assist tourism companies to organize and enforcement staff education.

The project´s duration is one year and measurements are made at the beginning and at the end of the project e.g. job satisfaction, scores on booking.com, employee turnover and more.
