Hand in Hand for Eco-Friendly Schools

In project Erasmus + "Hand in Hand for Eco-Friendly Schools" Nr 2022-1-TR01-KA210-SCH-000080972, Partners understood that climate change effectively requires both awareness and action, and schools play a crucial role in fostering this mindset in students. Practical and engaging activities can be implemented to educate students about climate protection. What was done? Starting a school garden or a composting program can teach students about sustainable agriculture, recycling, and waste management. Through these activities and hands-on projects, students learn the value of growing their food, reducing waste, and working HAND IN HAND FOR ECO-FRIENDLY SCHOOLS. Forming an environmental club allowed students to organize and participate in activities like clean-up drives, tree planting, and awareness campaigns. These clubs can serve as platforms for students to collaborate on environmental projects and initiatives. Students have run school-wide campaigns to promote sustainable practices, such as reducing plastic use and conserving water. These campaigns can raise awareness and foster a culture of sustainability within the school community.
Schools-organized trips to local nature reserves, parks, or conservation areas provide students with first-hand experiences of biodiversity and the importance of preserving natural habitats. These trips could deepen students' appreciation for the environment and the need to protect it. By involving students in these diverse activities, schools empower a deeper understanding of climate issues and empower young people to take meaningful action towards protecting the environment. Engaging students in climate education equips them with knowledge and inspires them to become proactive stewards of our planet.
