Germany in Bosnia and Herzegovina: German Companies and Organisations Presented Its Work in Banja Luka


City of Banja Luka hosted an annual event "Germany in Bosnia and Herzegovina“ organised on 14th of May for the fifth time by the Delegation of German Economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina - AHK and the German Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The initiative for organising such an event is a result of the low awareness of public in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the intensity of cooperation and support which Germany has provided, as one of the most important bilateral political partners of the country, to all segments of the society, especially to the fields of education and economy.
Only for reconstruction and development of B&H, Germany has invested approx. one billion Euro so far what makes it one of the greatest foreign donors. Moreover, with the annual trading of goods of 1.7 billion Euro, which is also one of the most important trading partners and one of the main investors in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
H.E. the German Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ms Christiane Hohmann and the Deputy Director of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in B&H, Mr David Parkmann visited DVV International's stand whereby the presence of Germany and its professional expertise in Bosnia and Herzegovina were once again emphasized, particularly for development of the adult education system.
Besides the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in B&H and the German Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina, visitors had chance to learn more about various German organisations. This year's partner of the event were following organisations: Goethe Institute, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), DVV International, KfW Development Bank, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Forum Ziviler Friedensdienst e.V. (ZFD), Help e.V; and foundations: Heinrich Böll, Konrad Adenauer, Friedrich Ebert and Schüler Helfen Leben, as well as non-governmental organisations supported by the German Embassy: Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Transparency International B&H.
Well-known German companies such as Meggle, TÜV Adria, and brands Ehrmann and Paladin were also exhibitors at the event, and this year an IT company Lanaco joined them as its head office is located in Banja Luka.
