Faculty of Cultural Science, Education and Regional Development at the University of Pécs, Hungary, is hosting an international ESRALE conference for academics, researchers, prominent practitioners and PhD students in the field of adult learning and education and related fields.

Participants of the conference are invited to reflect on themes like:

  • Adult Learning and the Cultural Context;

  • Learning Communities and Community Learning;

  • Citizenship, Active Citizenship and Responsibility;

  • Participation and Performance in Adult Learning;

  • Teaching and Learning with Adults: the Social Dimension.\;

  • Matters of Quality and Professionalism. 

Complete application has to be submitted no later than 8th May 2016 to the address of Professor Balázs NÉMETH, PhD:  Paper abstracts presented at the conference will be published in e-form.


European Studies and Research in Adult Learning and Education network – ESRALE - seeks to develop a joint master’s program in adult education, implement it across the European institutions, and also to implement a doctorate school in order to support the European dimension in research in adult education.

The conference is organised with the aim to provide opportunities for participants to: • Present designs and results of their own empirical research or research projects in the field of adult learning and education, with calling attention to specific conceptual and methodological issues and concerns; • Present papers in which the main emphasis is on considering certain conceptual and methodological issues in empirical research in adult learning and education; • Jointly discuss and analyse the current state and conceptual and methodological issues of research in adult learning and education on the national and European levels; • Make arrangements regarding possible future joint researches.
