English and Maths Policy: Current challenges and future plans with Catherine Paulson-Ellis, Head of English and Maths at BIS
English and Maths are hot topics in FE and skills at present. Poor English & Maths provision has been highlighted as a factor in no fewer than 10 providers being classed as Inadequate since September, and the downgrading from Outstanding of three more. English & Maths in Apprenticeships present their own challenges, and the Functional Skills Reform Programme proceeds apace, with the Education & Training Foundation expected to produce a draft Standards and Functional Skills content document for comment in early July, following the end of the current consultation on 24th June.
Catherine Paulson-Ellis, Head of English & Maths at BIS, will be joining us to discuss current and possible future English & Maths policy on Wednesday 20th July 2-4pm.
The seminar will be chaired by the Campaign's Lead Adviser Tricia Hartley under the Chatham House Rule and there will plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.
NCFE (www.ncfe.org.uk) is the main sponsor of the Campaign for Learning's policy seminars.
