We are currently promoting the third Dúchasach event- Realising Indigeneity Training in Ireland. It takes place in Limavady, Co. Derry and surrounding environs from Fri 29th April - Sun 1st May 2022.

 

This event is a small gathering with limited spaces but we wanted to send this email to see if you would be interested in coming along. Places are limited and allocated on a first come basis.

There is some information below to give you a sense of what we will be doing. 

Purpose of Dúchasach

Dúchasach ‘ To realise, embody and practice Dúchas in your life. Dúchas being the experience and understanding of being, belonging and identity in nature’.

  • Deepening relationship and communication between human and ‘more than human’ nature through attunement and active participation of the senses. 
  • Connecting to cycles of breath, tide, moon, elements (dúile) and wider forces at play. 
  • Honouring place and ancestry through cultural practices, stories, songs and celebration. 
  • Adopting a curious and playful approach. 
     

Schedule 

Friday

7pm: Arrival and tea

8pm: Lighting of the fire and opening. 

Revisiting and orientating back to the purpose of Dúchasach. 

10pm: Close

 

Saturday 

8am: Immersion in the flow of the River Roe.

10am: Breakfast 

11am: First Reflection Cycle 

12pm: Depart for Mountsandel, Coleraine.

3pm: Back at house for Second Reflection Cycle 

5pm: Carrying our fire with us. 

Follow river uphill from Ballycarton to top of Binevenagh for sunset. 

8pm: Dinner and sharing music, poetry, stories, celebrate around fire. 

 

Sunday 

8am: Breakfast

9am: St Aidan's Well; make an offering , connect with ancestors. 

10am: Benone swim and sauna (in 2 groups) 

12pm: Third reflection cycle with brunch. 

2pm: Close and depart.

 

WORKSHOP LOCATION & DIRECTIONS

 

The workshop will take place in the surrounding environs of Lough Foyle, River Roe and Binevenagh area. We will be based at a private house on 57 Burnally Road, Limavady, BT499DP, located here:

We will use the house as both a workshop base and for self-catering meals. Accommodation is also available at the house, there are 4 spare double rooms in the house, as well as a small 2 room apartment at the back of the house.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation policy as follows:

  • Full refund if the organisers cancel
  • 100% refund if you cancel before 1 April
  • 50% refund if you cancel before 15 April
  • No refund for cancellations within 2 weeks of the event but we can put you on a future event if a space is available
