The Covid-19 situation has resulted in an education boost in Norway

To cope with the pandemic, the Norwegian government has decided to invest in skills and education. Utdanningsløftet 2020 (“The Education Boost 2020”) consists of a range of education programmes at the total price of 1,6 billion NOK. The programmes are:

  • Sectorial programmes (“Bransjeprogrammene”)
  • Web-based further education at all further education levels
  • Accomplishment of upper secondary education for unemployed and persons who are dismissed because of the Corona crisis
  • Apprenticeship Certificate at work (“Fagbrev på jobb”)
  • Extension of the SkillsPlus programme that offers upper secondary provision combined with basic skills for employees (“KompetansePluss fagopplæring”)
  • Modularized adult upper secondary education (“Modulisert fag- og yrkesopplæring”)
