An Cosán’s Get Yourself Online Digital Week 25-29 April 2022 - Ireland's first Community Digital Week
An Cosán, Ireland’s largest provider of community education, is calling for communities across Ireland to join its inaugural Get Yourself Online Digital Week campaign, which aims to highlight and address the digital divide.
Currently almost 1 in 2 adults in Ireland lack basic digital skills, according to the government’s Adult Literacy For Life Strategy launched last September.
The Get Yourself Online campaign will be launched during a Community Partner Webinar themed ‘Digital Equity Today for a Sustainable Future Tomorrow’ which An Cosán is hosting on 25th April 2022.
Did you know that less than 50% of Ireland’s adult population has only basic digital skills*?
Basic Digital Skills are required for: online shopping and banking; doing online courses; connecting online with friends and family; finding a job; and being safe online. An Cosán has been working for years helping marginalised adult learners to acquire equal access to education and employment. Having basic digital skills and being online are now requirements for accessing education, employment and engaging in society.
Who is 'Get Yourself Online' Digital Week for?
Get Yourself Online Digital Week is for An Cosán Community Partners, Community Educators, Community Organisations and anyone with an interest in learning more about Digital Equity, developing digital skills and building capacity in their communities.
We want to encourage and support more people to ‘Get Yourself Online’ in 2022 and improve their competence and confidence in using digital tools. Join us by nominating a ‘Digital Champion’, in your organisation.
This challenge requires a whole of society approach. Together, we can all make the move online and bridge the Digital Divide to build a more equitable, sustainable future for all our citizens. **DESI, 2019 **EU target
