Combating Disinformation in the Digital World Training – Investing in Societal Resilience to Disinformation 🛡️

Combating Disinformation in the Digital World Training – Investing in Global Digital Resilience

In September 2025, amid growing global concerns over the spread of false information, the ambitious educational project “Combating Disinformation in the Digital World Training” was officially launched. This groundbreaking initiative, the result of collaboration between Data Chord and the Just Do It Support Center Association (SCA “Just Do It”), forms a key component of the global strategy to counter false narratives in the digital age. Conducted under the patronage of SCW “Just Do It,” the project aims not only to educate but also to strengthen digital resilience among societies worldwide.

Why Disinformation Is the Greatest Digital Challenge ⚠️

In today’s world, information is one of the most valuable assets. Yet, the rapid spread of disinformation and misinformation poses an unprecedented threat. False narratives influence political processes, public opinion, national security, and even the daily lives of individuals.

Digital manipulation — through deepfakes, AI-generated content, and bot networks — is now one of the most pressing challenges facing democratic societies. It undermines trust in public institutions and the media, destabilising communities worldwide. Combating this phenomenon has therefore become a priority for governments, educators, and civil society alike.

The Training’s Mission and Structure 🎯

The Combating Disinformation in the Digital World Training program goes far beyond traditional educational approaches. It equips participants with practical tools and strategies to recognise and actively counter digital manipulation.

The training focuses on four main pillars:

  1. Understanding the Mechanics of Disinformation – Participants explore how false narratives are created, amplified, and weaponised for political or economic gain.

  2. Identifying Manipulation Techniques – The course teaches recognition of visual and textual manipulation, bot networks, and algorithmic amplification of false content.

  3. Developing Critical Thinking Skills – At the heart of the program lies media literacy and fact-checking. Participants learn to verify sources and assess the credibility of online information.

  4. Building Counteraction Strategies – The most innovative part of the training involves designing real-world strategies to mitigate disinformation in organisations and local communities.

The project is open to educators, journalists, policymakers, professionals, and the general public — emphasising that digital resilience is a shared responsibility.

International Expertise and Collaboration 🤝

The project unites leading global experts in data science, AI, law, and social impact.

Ivan-Oleksandr Yakymiv, Vice President of SCW “Just Do It,” focuses on building bridges between communities and promoting international cooperation grounded in peace and justice. His leadership ensures that the program connects digital literacy with social responsibility.

Prof. Dr Kathrin Kind, Chief Data Scientist at Cognizant and Honorary Ambassador of SCW “Just Do It,” brings vast expertise in artificial intelligence applied to business and social innovation. Her academic background — including doctorates and advanced studies from institutions such as MIT, Columbia University, and the Swiss School of Business and Management — adds scientific depth to the project.

Prof. Dr Daniel Koh, Managing Director of Data Chord Pte Ltd (Singapore) and Koh & Associates LLC (Japan), integrates data science with global resilience frameworks. As the creator of the Professional Certificate in Data Science (PCiDS™) and the Loss Aversion Distribution (LAD) model, he provides the program's analytical backbone.

Robbert Zijlstra, LLM MBA, a senior AI and IP consultant with over 30 years of experience in corporate growth strategy, contributes to the module on Digital IP Law and Risk Management. His approach merges commercial strategy with ethical AI governance.

This multidisciplinary team ensures the project addresses both the technological and human dimensions of disinformation, creating a holistic, effective training model.

Alignment with the UN Global Digital Compact 🌐

The initiative aligns with the principles of the UN Global Digital Compact, which promotes transparency, accountability, and trust in the digital environment. The project exemplifies how NGOs, academia, and the private sector can collaborate to build a more trustworthy information ecosystem.

The training is not a one-way transmission of knowledge but a platform for international cooperation, experience sharing, and the development of common standards. It demonstrates how community-driven initiatives can effectively support global efforts to counter disinformation.

Building the Future – Investing in Digital Resilience 🌱

The Combating Disinformation in the Digital World Training is more than a course — it is a strategic investment in the future of truth and democracy. In an era where the line between reality and digital fabrication is increasingly blurred, education and critical thinking remain the strongest defences.

By empowering individuals and organisations to recognise manipulation, verify information, and foster trust, the project contributes directly to a more informed, resilient, and ethical digital society.
