Coastal Activity Leader Training

Scottish charity Wild Things are holding a Coastal Activity Leader Training event in Findhorn in August this year. Those who attend will receive a Level 2 Wild Things award at the end of the course and will be enabled to lead groups in a coastal environment and teach them about the discovery and conservation of marine life.
Attendees will also learn essential health and safety and coastal bushcraft skills, as well as a range of coastal education games.

Date: August 5 2019 – August 11 2019
Price: £525 (tickets might be offered at £470 for a limited time only)
Note: A maximum of 4 tickets can be sold per order
Some specific skills include being able to identify and cook safe-to-eat coastal foods, lighting fires and writing inspiring lesson plans. Attendees will also learn how to survey whales, dolphins and porpoises that can be found in Scottish waters.
The course is aimed at a variety of professions, including teachers and teaching assistants, rangers, social workers, parents, wildlife guides and outdoor instructors. Those taking the course may teach children, young people, adults and even older generations. It is delivered over 48 hours, with an additional 6 hours for home study and can be completed over 7 days. Assessments combine practical and written tasks.
Due to the tendency for the Scottish weather to change, attendees are advised to bring waterproof clothing, walking boots and wellies. It is also advisable to bring a camera, a packed lunch (although there are also places to buy food nearby), a water bottle and any reference books that might be useful to share with the group.
The award that will be received on completion has been created by Wild Things and is not nationality regulated, but is accredited by NCFE – a national awarding organisation.
