Bridging 2nd Language Learning and Working Life
About the project
Bridging 2nd Language Learning and Working Life (NPAD-2015-PV-10067) is a continuance of the work in CoachLang Nordplus Adult mobility project (NPAD-2014/10226) from 2013-2015. During its work it became evident that employers needed support and means when dealing with migrant workers with limited language skills. It also became clear how the workplace is the most efficient and motivating language learning environment while the learning process needs guidance and support. Employers (supervisors, colleagues) are in a key role, but they need concrete tools to facilitate their language learners in the workplace.
The focus of the project has been to continue with bridging the second language provision to working life requirements. The shared experience has been turned into teachers and employers’ guidance program on how to facilitate language learning in the workplace. Furthermore, concrete materials (guidelines and/or model) were developed for teachers and employers on how to adjust their language and approach when interacting with migrant workers with limited language skills.
Project partners are Axxell-Helsinki, Mímir-Reykjavík, Skullerud-Oslo, SFI Söderort-Stockholm and VSK-Copenhagen.
