Become a host of DigiEduHack 2021, a flagship initiative of the European Digital Education Action Plan!

DigiEduHack

DigiEduHack is a flagship initiative of the European Digital Education Action Plan: it is a series of online and in-person hackathons happening all around the world for two days, focusing on creating digital education solutions for a sustainable world.

DigiEduHack is free, inclusive, sustainable, open to anyone worldwide: coders and non-coders, with no discrimination regarding gender, education level, or origin. The expected outcome is to produce ideas, concepts and ready-to-be-developed solutions with a high impact on communities.

The format of DigiEduHack is inspired by original hackathons, with a twist, to make the events the most accessible, sustainable and inclusive possible: local DigiEduHack hosts craft their challenge among the 8 proposed themes and can decide the format of their hackathon in order to suit their participants the best having the needs of their communities in mind.

For the 2020 edition, 2600 participants joined 54 DigiEduHack challenges online and in-person from all around the world. The DigiEduHackers created 253 solutions among which the three 2021 Global Award winners - SaveDopamine, EduSex and Squiddy - were crowned last April by Mariya Gabriel the European Commissioner of Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth

The three global winning teams received 5000€ and their members will be DigiEduHack Global Ambassadors for 2021.

BE PART OF THE CHANGE

DigiEduHack has been created with one goal in mind: relying on co-creation and user-driven innovation to change digital education to create a more sustainable world, one challenge at a time.

DigiEduHack is unique by nature: truthful to the uniting spirit of the original hackathons, it’s the only existing innovation platform that gathers at the same place educational stakeholders from preschools to higher-education, companies, public libraries, public authorities, innovation hubs, entrepreneurs, start-ups, associations, NGOs, cities, students, enthusiasts, citizens.

More than an event, DigiEduHack is a pluri-directional movement that uses the energy of co-creation to empower both hosts and participants in solving the most challenging issues in the world of digital education.

At DigiEduHack, we believe in the power of togetherness to solve issues: #StrongerTogether is one of our mottos. This is why DigiEduHack is free, inclusive, accessible, sustainable. These are not just empty concepts: we do believe in the strength of co-creation to go that extra-mile and reach uncharted territories. We believe that citizens working together, no matter their origin or background, have the power of redefining digital education.

You don’t need to be a coder to take part to DigiEduHack. All you need a will to commit, and a lot of determination to address and tackle digital education challenges. Don’t get us wrong, coders: we also love (and need) you! We are as much looking for ideas as we are looking for ready-to-be-developed solutions.

NEED SOME INSPIRATION?

The Italian EPALE team has accepted the challenge and it will be hosting a national contest addressed to Provincial Centres for Adult Education (CPIA), which have been invited to participate with mixed teams of teachers, learners and representatives of local organisations to co-develop solutions to the main challenge “Let's design the CPIA of the future together”!

The event EPALE EDU HACK generates from the collaboration of Epale Italy with EGInA, the European Grants International Academy, and the national ICT IdA network of Ridap, the Italian national Network of Adult Learning. The theme identified for the challenge is the creation of new learning environments for integrated digital teaching. The design must ensure the sustainability of the proposed activities, pay attention to inclusiveness, sociability and a sense of belonging to the community.

The event will be preceded by three preparatory training sessions on the themes of the challenge such as:

  • Elements of design and integration of environments and practical examples for an active and integrated digital teaching;
  • New didactic environments (physical and virtual) for learning, cooperative learning and innovative teaching methodologies;
  • Creation of digital content: video, pod cast, digital story telling.
