From Wednesday 14th to Friday 16th September the European Basic Skills Network (EBSN) will be hosting an online discussion about Workplace Basic Skills on EPALE.
The discussion will be moderated by Rosemarie Klein and Dieter Zisenis of the German research and consultancy organization Büro für berufliche Bildungsplanung (bbb). Rosemarie and Dieter have a wealth of experience in the area of workplace basic skills working on national and trans-national initiatives and they are keen advocates of basic skills training in the workplace.
Dieter and Rosemarie are involved in the Straighten Basic Skills project, which has produced a set of success indicators for the implementation of work-related basic skills training for low qualified workers and the unemployed. You can see a picture of the indicators below and you can read a summary of them here.
We will be using the Straighten Basic Skills indicators as a starting point for the discussion.

Rosemarie and Dieter are also currently running a national workplace basic skills project: Gruwe - work and vocational oriented basic basic skills for employees in small and medium sized companies in North Rhine-Westphalia, funded as a pilot project by the Ministry of Labor, Integration and Social Affairs NRW. The project is about to develop a long-term and sustainable manner for work-oriented basic skills in NRW for SMS and the low qualified employees in SMS Companies based on the empirical results and the reached state of the art of former research and developing projects.
