TRIO - Adult education on digital, health and data literacy for citizen empowerment

The TRIO project aims to develop a concerted upskilling pathway to improve the health, digital and data literacy of adults.

In many European countries the overcrowding of the healthcare system is inducing the rapid development of digital health technologies. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated this digital growth significantly. In order to keep up with the advancements, citizens are required to possess a certain level of digital, health and data literacy skills, but for many these are difficult to attain. TRIO - Adult education on digital, health and data literacy for citizen empowerment is an Erasmus+ project that aims to improve the literacy levels of adults of all ages by developing a manual and an online learning platform, a toolkit for adult educators, and a Green Paper for policy makers and relevant European initiatives. These deliverables will be available from March 2024 in six different languages: English, Dutch, German, Portuguese, Romanian, and Spanish.

The official kick-off meeting of the TRIO-project took place on the 25th and 26th of May 2022 in Porto, Portugal. Since then partner organisations INESC TEC (Portugal, coordinator), SHINE 2Europe (Portugal), AFEdemy (the Netherlands), BOKtech (Romania), CETEM (Spain), and ISIS (Germany) have been working hard on finding the needs, gaps, and demands of the citizens in regard to digital,  health, and data skills, by doing desk research and conducting interviews with citizens and experts from the healthcare sector. The results were discussed during the second transnational meeting, held on October 26th and 27th in Gouda, the Netherlands.

In the beginning of 2023 co-creation workshops will take place in all partner countries to involve citizens in the construction of the learning material and to further analyse the current needs in terms of digital health information literacy. The results of the workshops will be posted as soon as they are available.

More information on the project can be found on the TRIO website.
