Preparing for Training in Malaga: P.IR.A.M.iD. Project Enhances Intercultural Skills for VET Students

garagErasmus & Tribeka met Belgian VET students for P.IR.A.M.iD., a project to develop intercultural skills for younsters. Training in Malaga starts in February

Last week, garagErasmus and our partner coordinator, Tribeka, held an online meeting with the Belgian VET students selected to participate in the training in Malaga this February as part of the P.IR.A.M.iD. project.

(Path for Intercultural Awareness, Measurement, and Development) aims to strengthen the intercultural competencies of VET students and teachers in the tourism sector, in collaboration with tourism companies, through training activities and transnational mobilities.

In this first phase, garagErasmus has been working with VET students from diverse academic backgrounds, including healthcare, tourism, and early childhood education—professions that often require navigating multicultural contexts.

The students participating in the mobility program come from two different schools: Institut Sainte-Marie Châtelineau, a VET school on the Walloon side of the country (French-speaking), and Avant VET school, from the Flemish side (Dutch-speaking). This was their first meeting. During the session, they had the opportunity to introduce themselves, share their expectations for the project, and discuss how developing intercultural skills could help them navigate international work environments.

We also reviewed the agenda for the training in Malaga and discussed the tasks the students will be responsible for as part of the project, including creating content related to multicultural tips aimed at raising awareness among young people about the importance of intercultural competencies.
