Many employees in different companies aren’t aware of their safety conditions. They don’t pay attention of their risk at the work place, probably don’t wear safety uniforms or even aren’t familiar with the standards of these rules. Macedonian Ooccupational safety and Health association (MOSHA) is the first ILO/CIS collaborative center in North Macedonia.
The main goal of the Association is to establish human and safe approach to the work as a part of the working environment. The psycho-physical integrity of the worker, elevation of the workers rights and implementation and full compliance with the existing ones are only few of the main objectives. Nowadays, this mission is very much obstructed by the recent trend of maximum exploitation of the people for the purpose to make bigger profit.
We spoke to the President of MOSHA Mr. Milan Petkovski, concerning the issue of adult education whether the adult education is provided in your Association?
-According to the approval granted for the implementation of training for professional development of occupational safety experts No.08-3608/34 dated 15.09.2015 by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, Macedonian Occupational Safety and Health Association, Macedonian ILO/CIS Collaborative Center organizes and delivers trainings, seminars, workshops and conferences on the basis of a prepares annual program that is approved each December in the annual Assembly of members (200 members) and the leadership of the association. Adult education modules in the field of occupational safety and health that are part of the annual program are copyright work and are protected by the Intellectual Property Society.
How important is adult education in the sphere at the workplace?
-The adult education programs that we implement allow participants to acquire new knowledge, skills and competences in line with current developments and the needs for a healthy work environment. The programs are focused on non-formal education. Non-formal education offers opportunities for the acquisition of practical, professional and soft skills, in order to build a preventive culture that will reduce injuries and accidents at work, as well as occupational diseases. The adult education programs that we implement are tailored to EU standards.

-Through the continuous application of modern scientific, engineering, health mechanisms of good practice we work to protect all stakeholders in the workplace and contribute to raising the perspective culture of the entire population.
A study visit to the European Agency for safety and Health at work (EUOSHA) was held in Bilbao, Spain from 18.06- 22.06.2019, what was the purpose of this visit?
-In order to exchange experiences related to strategic, organizational planning, implementation of OSH standards, advocacy and involvement of CSOs in the decision-making process in the area of safety and health at workplace we had a study visit in Bilbao. The purpose of the study visit was to provide first-hand information on the best practices and knowledge on strategic, organizational planning, implementation of OSH standards, information campaign and inclusion of CSOs in the decision making process. At the same time to enable participants to exchange experiences and good practices with other CSOs form the region and the European Union.
