Job-shadowing in Web Design through Erasmus+
As a computer science teacher, I was part of the staff team of the Erasmus + 2017-1-Ro01-KA102-036700 Project, "IT Career Start", coordinated by "Gheorghe Vranceanu" National College, Bacau and funded by the European Commission. In this capacity, I participated in a continuous in-training mobility in Paphos, Cyprus, based on job-shadowing, between 28.05-08.06.2018. It was one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had with my colleagues and the students involved in this project.
Before I left, I did not know anything about the country and the city of Paphos and I was kind of nervous, but now I can say that everything was wonderful. I was pleasantly surprised with the customs, traditions, the cultural and linguistic diversity of the place, as well as with the availability of the hosts to share their experience, and to socialize, which enabled me to improve my English language skills. I managed to adapt to a completely different cultural environment, while being in the company of happy, calm people and discovering wonderful places.
The work program consisted of eight hours of work, some of which took place at the staff receiving institution, Rivensco Consulting LTD, and others at the student receiving companies, Mavros Petros Avantless, L. Lazarou CTC and SSM Global Trainning Services LTD . I engaged in discussions with IT mentor and tutors on initial and continuing IT training in Romania and Ciprus as well as on the level of training required for joining the labor market. I also had the opportunity to see first hand the way tutors organize internships for students participating in initial IT training European mobilities, methods and software used in web page design.
Every day we teamed up to improve the Curriculum Design for School Decision (CDS "Web Design"), a final product of the project, in terms of content, syllabus, teaching-learning methods, evaluation tools and teaching material. The official recognition of my participation in the job-shawowing activities was achieved through the Europass Mobility Document.
The mobility had a positive impact on my professional training and was a wonderful multicultural experience.
