Invitation to the Austrian EPALE conference on 21 June 2018

EPALE Austria and Erasmus+ Adult Education kindly invite you to this year's conference „Upskilling Pathways – Equal opportunities & participation through adult education" in Vienna.
Adult education can be an effective way of including people in society – especially when it reaches disadvantaged adults who are not very highly qualified and closes skills gaps, thereby promoting equal opportunities. Ideally, adult education should help people get involved in society and the world of work, both of which are undergoing a period of drastic change. But what obstacles do adult learners face when getting started on a course? How can we match those in need of education up to the relevant opportunities open to them? And what help is available to underprivileged adult learners? These are exactly the types of questions that are going to be at the heart of the EPALE Conference.
The event will also address the European ‘Upskilling Pathways’ strategy, looked at from an Austrian perspective. The aim of this initiative is to offer support to adults so they can pick up the reading, writing, maths and digital skills they need along with other competencies. This should put them in a position to continue their education up to secondary level so they can get the relevant qualifications or an equivalent.
The aim of the conference is to create both real and virtual platforms that reach across international borders and encourage sharing and learning. The conference offers the chance to attend talks as well as idea and networking pools where representatives from initiatives and projects from various countries across Europe will be presenting their methodologies and connecting with one another. We would also like to invite current and future promoters of the Erasmus+ programme to this event.
When: 21 June 2018 | 12:00 - 18:00
Where: MAGDAS Hotel | Laufbergergasse 12 | 1020 Vienna | Austria
