Imagine a world where fashion designers don't just create beautiful clothes but also consider the environmental and social impact of their creations. As the second-largest global polluter, fashion production calls for a change. Fashion.ED is a project committed to reshaping fashion education for sustainability. Innovative programs and online platforms will improve design skills and entrepreneurial thinking, encouraging students to embrace careers in eco-fashion.

Recognising the urgency of the situation, Fashion.ED goes beyond awareness-raising. Its primary mission is to equip the next generation of fashion professionals with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry. Its approach is comprehensive, spanning from sourcing eco-friendly materials to waste reduction and ensuring fair labour practices throughout the supply chain. Through its innovative educational programs and digital platforms, it will improve entrepreneurial skills and encourage students to explore and embrace careers in eco-fashion.

Participating in the Fashion.ED project are the following institutions: UNIVERSITAT POLITECNICA DE VALENCIA (Spain), PANEPISTIMIO DYTIKIS ATTIKIS (Greece), KAUNO TECHNOLOGIJOS UNIVERSITETAS (Lithuania), UNIVERSITATEA DIN ORADEA (Romania), IDEC (Greece), and STICHTING BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT FRIESLAND (Netherlands). Together, they have been working towards teaching the next generation of fashion designers how to create clothes that are stylish and eco-friendly. They have done this by adding "sustainable fashion design" lessons right into the classes offered by these universities and colleges. They will be giving students hands-on experience so they can learn how to make clothes that are good for the environment without sacrificing style. This way, future fashion designers will be more mindful of the planet with their designs.

Fashion.ED isn't just about creating awareness or educating future designers; it's dedicated to promoting a circular economy within fashion and encouraging materials reuse, recycling, and upcycling. The industry can significantly reduce its environmental footprint by minimising waste and maximising resource efficiency.

The Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on "Eco-design in Fashion" is perfect for people who want to learn about eco-design in fashion and textiles, whether they're students or already working in the field. The course includes real-life examples (case studies) that show how to be sustainable. By taking this course, students and professionals will learn more about eco-design ideas, improve their use of sustainable methods, and be more likely to use eco-friendly practices in their fashion or textile work.

As a co-funded project by the European Union, Fashion.ED embodies the EU's commitment to sustainable development. It will demonstrate that the fashion industry can be both stylish and sustainable. Combining education, innovation, and collaboration, Fashion.ED will pave the way for a more responsible and eco-conscious future for fashion.
