GLITTER Project: Supporting Digital Well-being in Schools

The digital age has transformed the way we teach and learn—but with these opportunities come challenges, especially when it comes to ensuring the well-being of students and educators in increasingly digital environments. That’s where GLITTER comes in.
We're excited to announce the official kickoff of GLITTER – strenGthening learners’ and educators’ weLlbeIng in the digital educaTion EnviRoments—a pioneering Erasmus+ policy experimentation project aiming to redefine how digital well-being is approached in schools across Europe.
A Whole School Approach to Digital Well-being
GLITTER brings together a diverse consortium of partners across three EU countries to design, test, and refine practical tools that support a whole school approach to digital well-being. This approach considers the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social aspects of digital life and learning, aiming to empower students and educators alike to thrive in connected classrooms.
The project builds on cutting-edge research and best practices, focusing on:
Tackling digital risks like cyberbullying, fake news, and screen fatigue.
Promoting digital opportunities for learning, creativity, and civic participation.
Ensuring inclusive access and promoting digital literacy and citizenship.
What GLITTER Will Do
Over the next 36 months, GLITTER will:
Map national and European best practices related to digital well-being in education.
Develop and pilot practical tools, including teacher training resources, student mini-games and guides, and parent workshops.
Test its model in schools across three countries at primary, lower secondary, and upper secondary levels.
Provide policy recommendations based on data and field experience to inform education strategies at both national and EU levels.
Empowering Schools, Teachers, Students, and Families
The GLITTER toolbox will include:
A self-reflection tool for teachers.
An interactive eLearning space.
Multilingual, open educational resources (OERs).
Creative learning activities tailored to digital well-being themes.
Teachers will receive training and coaching, while students, parents, and school leaders will participate in co-created learning experiences, workshops, and digital citizenship initiatives.
Why Now?
With increasing screen time, digital risks, and technological integration in education, the well-being of students and teachers has never been more critical. GLITTER responds to this urgent need by turning evidence into action—building a bridge between policy, practice, and the people at the heart of education.
