Georgia Ropi: the potential of transnational cooperation

I feel more prepared to engage in transnational activities in the future, and thus improve my professional prospects.

Georgia Ropi

Short bio

My name is Georgia Ropi and I have been teaching Literature, History and Ancient Greek for 27 years in public and private education. I currently work in a public high school, teaching these subjects to students aged 12-15. I participate in various school projects with an environmental and cultural focus and also in European Erasmus+ KA229 and KA1 projects. My professional goal is to enrich my teaching with topics related to contemporary social reality.

My Story

I would like to share my experience in participating in an Erasmus+ KA1 project, which has been very important and useful for me, even more so since it was my first time taking part in such an adult training project. Since my professional goal has long been to enrich my teaching with topics related to contemporary social reality, such as interculturalism, environmental protection, behavioural education, the use of new technologies to enrich the educational process, and the use of historical knowledge to foster cooperative relationships between people, it has been very inspiring for me to learn how the Erasmus+ projects can contribute to these aspects.

Given the importance of these programs in introducing innovative practices into the educational process and enriching teaching with socially relevant issues, my participation in the project Introducing our school to Europe (project code: 2020-1-EL01-KA101-078609) and the training I received for the design and implementation of Erasmus+ projects in the framework of this project, has been especially valuable. It has assisted me in overcoming my apprehension about the responsibilities that come with taking on European projects, increased my confidence in planning and implementing such initiatives, and provided me with the tools to recognize their significance and the potential that transnational cooperation opens up for an education worker - and other professionals - in the field of education.

As a result, I feel more prepared to engage in similar activities in the future, and thus improve my professional prospects and contribute to the development of my school's European identity.

In this context, I intend to multiply to my colleagues what I have learned by organizing relevant training sessions and encouraging others to take part in similar projects, in order to promote our school's European orientation in a collaborative framework.
