We would like to invite you to an EPALE seminar on energy education for adults in Europe. The meeting is organised by the EPALE National Support Service in Poland, within the Foundation for the Development of the Education System - National Erasmus+ Agency in Poland.
We will meet on June 13th, 2023, online: : https://zoom.us/j/94513502549?pwd=dlhvTHNTcTZUS05OVTFQbWFjRVNidz09
No registration is required.
We will talk about building awareness and competencies of European citizens in clean energy, environmental protection and sustainable development.

Sustainable development, environmental protection and, above all, the reduction of fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as regulations aimed at liberalising the energy market, require changes in the awareness of energy consumers and coordinated action on the part of energy sector companies, government bodies and other entities.
Clean Energy for All Europeans
11.05-11.35
During the presentation, we will try to answer the question: What is energy citizenship? What is citizen participation in energy decision-making? What do Europeans have a right to? What does the 'Clean Energy for All Europeans' package adopted by the European Union provide us with? What is Europe's energy and climate strategy to achieve climate neutrality by 2050?

Citizens Energy Education
12.40-13.10
Citizens are expected to 'take responsibility for the energy transition', participate actively in the energy market and use new technologies to reduce their bills. Companies, governmental, social and educational associations and organisations conduct information programmes and campaigns, especially on energy efficiency programmes. The education includes many forms and methods such as classes in schools of different levels on safe energy use and energy production from other sources, free energy audits, workshops, explanation of labelling and certification systems for energy-consuming appliances and energy efficiency regulations for newly erected buildings. Education is provided through direct contact with citizens and dedicated portals, brochures, books and TV programmes.
Research shows a strong correlation between a person's level of knowledge and the likelihood of their acceptance of actions by government bodies leading to more rational use of energy and natural resources. However, educating adult users is much more complex than educating schoolchildren and students, for whom acquiring new skills and knowledge is a natural life-stage process.
