We all know how different adult learning and education is across Europe, and what a challenge it can be to agree on common priorities for EU member states. Now imagine trying to improve the role of adult learning and education at the global level, and reaching a compromise with all 193 UNESCO member states.
Impossible? Yet every 12 years, the International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA) attempts to do just that.

EAEA’s Gina Ebner has spoken to Professor Katarina Popović, Secretary General of the International Council for Adult Education, who sheds some light on why putting adult learning and education higher on the global agenda is important, explains how civil society can contribute to the upcoming CONFINTEA VII conference, and shares her fears and hopes for the future.
