EPALE focus: Environmental awareness and protection

EPALE's thematic focus from January to March is on Environmental awareness and protection

Environmental awareness and protection

The European Commission has recently presented the European Green Deal, which is an ambitious package of measures that should enable Europeans to benefit from sustainable green transition and also represents the new EU growth strategy. Above all, the European Green Deal sets a path for a transition that is just and socially fair. It is designed in a way as to leave no one behind in the great transformation ahead.

To create a more sustainable world and to engage with sustainability-related issues, individuals must become sustainability change-makers (4th Global Report on Adult Learning and Education, UNESCO). For that to happen, citizens need to develop a set of competences to tackle inequalities in participation and fully engage with social dimensions such as environmental protection, climate change and responsible consumption. A vibrant adult learning and education system plays a key role in creating a more sustainable world.

Here at EPALE we strongly believe that adult education can foster and support the promotion of skills that enable active citizenship and people engagement. Indeed, adult education plays a crucial role in fighting against growing inequalities. Visit EPALE regularly, there will always be something new to discover on Environmental awareness and protection!

Do you know of worthwhile ideas and good practices on responsible consumption and environmental protection? Have you been involved in successful projects with a focus on environmental awareness? Share your experience with our community, you can do that by publishing content on our blog, newsroom, event calendar and resource centre!

► On 18 March you will also have the possibility to join our online discussion on how to contribute to Environmental awareness in the field of adult learning.
