ECRI - European Cooperation for Roma Inclusion
For years, the Roma community has struggled to be accepted because of social rejection, cultural misunderstandings, and other concerns. Their precarious social status makes it difficult for them to continue their education, establish their careers, and stabilize their lives.
The European Cooperation for Roma Inclusion (ECRI) initiative takes place in a time when national policies targeting Roma populations are becoming more restrictive. In light of rising nationalism, xenophobia, and glottophobia, the partners believe that today's tools, methods, and inclusion processes are overly sectorialized (social assistance, educational assistance, cultural assistance, etc.).
The project focuses on developing the skills of trainers who work with Roma communities living in squats (artists, mediators, trainers, educators, etc.) by assisting them to :
- develop their capacity to integrate cross-sectoral integration processes,
- train mentors,
- train local authorities to propose internal mechanisms and cooperation for the inclusion of ROMS.
Based on these goals, the ECRI project created a variety of activities to help adults develop their skills and qualifications:
- 2 learning activities,
- 1 augmented mediation platform on inclusive methodologies for Roma communities,
- 1 induction mentoring training course with certificates for the project's target audiences (trainers and educators, but also mentors within Roma communities),
- 1 narrative mapping of technological and economic resources to help communities rethink services and spaces for Roma inclusion,
- 3 international dissemination events (Bulgaria, Germany and France).
With all these methods , the project helps to improve the skills of those who work with Roma audiences.Develop Roma people's life skills and knowledge into mentoring and training abilities. And also encourage ROMS communities to participate in community events and mechanisms for social, cultural, and economic inclusion.
