Danish thematic page: Learner mobility in the adult learning sector

New opportunities in Erasmus+ in the area of adult education mean that adult learners in the adult learning sector can spend time abroad with learning in mind. In the past, it has been a prerequisite that the participants had so-called ‘fewer opportunities’ for participation or learning than others. However, this requirement no longer applies. This means that it is now possible to send all adults who are part of a learning course on a stay abroad with a subsidy from Erasmus+. It can be, for example, students and course participants at Danish folk high schools, evening schools and other parts of public education who can now participate in mobility activities. It can therefore be formal, informal or non-formal learning and education.
Below we have collected some articles and a video that revolves around the first Danish adult learning organizations that have embarked on learner mobility within the adult education sector. Learner mobility is not just a great opportunity for the individual learner, but also for the institutions. Get ready to be inspired by the selected mobility projects below:
Adult students on their study trip: "This is one for the ages"
At VUC Storstrøm they have sent 69 learners aged 18-40 abroad to Barcelona, Berlin and Rome via funds from Erasmus+. The learners find that the trip have provided them with a greater sense of community, improved their academic abilities, and given them more courage to live their lives. Teacher, Claes Krogh, also points out that the trip both had a positive effect on inclusion and that the course participants grew both academically and socially.
Italian for beginners
Other learners from VUC Storstrøm have overcome family obligations, short planning time and travel uncertainty to go on a study trip to Italy. The trip has confirmed teacher at VUC Stormstrøm, Claes Vendelboe, that education and educational journeys are closely related.
Study trip gives a new perspective on everyday life
Hf and VUC Roskilde-Køge send students abroad through their accreditation in Erasmus+, much to the delight of both the students and the institution. Study trips gives the students the opportunity to practice those skills, which are otherwise not possible to practice and train in the classroom. Hf and VUC Roskilde-Køge experience a particular large learning benefit for the more vulnerable students.
